Ferishta Stanekzai

Board Member in USA

Ferishta Stanekzai is a Program Officer for Democracy International where she supports compliance, finance, and budget management for the organization’s field operations.  Ms. Stanekzai has broad experience in budget preparation, finance, accounting, and auditing. Previous to joining DI, she was a Finance Coordinator for the University Research Company as well as an Evaluation Specialist with Checchi and Company. She additionally worked as an Audit Assistant with Creative Associates and has a background supporting USAID-funded projects in Afghanistan, including budget and audit experience with Deloitte Consulting in Kabul.

Ferishta has served as a member of the Board Directors since 2017, dedicating her passion for children’s right and working with children in poverty.  Her goal is to help her nation.

She has been actively involved in a number of community services in US. The Embassy of Afghanistan in DC has formally recognized Ferishta’s community and professional contributions and she has received an Appreciation award.  She holds a B.B.A. from Preston University in Pakistan. She is fluent in Pashto and Dari, and speaks conversational Urdu.
